Dear Parents/Caregivers

Welcome to 2026! This year we are moving from KAMAR to Helix as our student management system.  It offers some great features which our teachers will be learning to use over the next short while. One of those features is the ability to book appointments, rather than using SchoolPoint. We are committed to ensuring that all students have a timetable which ensures they can reach their potential and have every opportunity to pass NCEA. For this reason we are asking all Yr 12 and Yr 13 students to book appointments with trained teachers on 2 February. In previous years we have held sessions without appointments but this has led to long waits for students.

First you will need to create your Helix login;

1. Enter the website https://parent.helixsms.co.nz/ into your browser.
2. Either:
   1. click the icon (for Google or Office 365), that is associated with the email you have supplied to your school. A popup will appear asking for your login details. On entering this correctly the Helix caregiver home page opens, or
   2. if your email is not associated with the two above (they are all free, easy to sign up to and don’t necessitate you using that email for other purposes), type in the email address you supplied to the school. You will then be asked to supply a password. Choose the ‘Reset Password’ link and you will be sent an email (to the address you logged in with). This will allow you to create/reset your own password.
   3. If you haven’t given the school an email address or are unsure about the details please contact the school office.

Helix Mobile App

This can be downloaded from either Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS). Search for helix sms.

Once installed you will be asked to make up a 4 digit pin then enter your Helix email and password. There is also the option to reset your password.

In the app there is a series of labelled tiles that when tapped bring up information on your child’s contact details, timetable, attendance, NCEA results and related data.

After 3 minutes of non-use the Helix app will log out and require you to enter your 4 digit pin to re-open.

To book an appointment;

On the App:

1. Mobile App Link
2. Select the date
3. Select the teacher
4. Select a time

On the portal

1. Select My Summary button
2. Appointments
3. Book Appointment
4. Select the date
5. Select the teacher
6. Select a time

Please be patient with us as we navigate a new system.  As we add in features we will update you with how they work.
