Leadership

By embracing leadership opportunities students develop essential skills like communication, problem-solving, and teamwork. These experiences boost confidence and prepare them for future academic and professional success.

In Year 12, students may apply for Year 13 Kaitiaki (prefect) positions. The selection process includes a written application followed by voting. Students can also apply to become Kaitiaki Whānau (Head Students), with one selected from each Whānau after an additional interview process.

Other leadership opportunities include:

  • Joining the school council (Te Kaunihera) as an elective
  • Selecting the Sports Leadership (PEL) course as an elective subject for seniors
  • Participating in various committees like Social and Sports
  • Attending leadership workshops, courses, and camps
  • Leading the haka with staff guidance

Students are encouraged to speak with their Kaiārahi Team (Whānau leaders) to learn more about these opportunities and the application process.
