Assistant Head of Mathematics

Assistant Head of Mathematics, full time, permanent, 1MU and 1MMA

Experienced teachers only.

As Assistant Head of Department, your role is to ensure high-quality curriculum provision and effective teaching and learning within the mathematics curriculum area. The role includes responsibility for assessing students’ needs, group and individual programme planning, curriculum delivery, progress monitoring, recording, evaluation and reporting, and contributing to meeting the aims and kaupapa of the School. In addition to carrying out the professional duties of an experienced classroom teacher in accordance with the current Professional Standards for Secondary Teachers – Criteria for Quality Teaching document, you will demonstrate and promote the 6STP. You will

Actively support the HoD with implementing new initiatives and;

Lead one or more year level programmes within the department

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, as well as suitable ICT skills.

New Zealand teacher registration and certification would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite for applicants. However, the successful applicant will need to obtain this before commencing.

The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position is set by the Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement. The base salary for trained and registered teachers ranges from $68,685.00 to $105,686.00, depending on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. Individuals actual base salary will be established by a salary assessment once a role is confirmed.
